Truss Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Create designs for residential roof and floor systems and generate layouts.

• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors to discuss modifications and corrections before and during the construction phase.

• Present, market, and follow up on new project opportunities.

• Prepare layouts for roof trusses and truss joist floors.

• Conduct inspections at job sites.

• Generate lists of materials needed for projects.

• Identify specific notes to be included in contracts.

• Address and resolve discrepancies in architectural and design elements.

• Provide assistance in the shipping department.

• Read and comprehend blueprints and detailed technical drawings.

• Utilize computers or other technical tools to create accurate customer-order layouts (takeoffs).

• Ensure compliance with local building codes and material limitations while developing material lists and design layouts.

• Create final documentation for contractor use related to bathrooms, kitchens, decks, patios, and other assigned projects.

• Offer timely, accurate, and comprehensive customer service to assist clients.

• Measure and scale projects on-site accurately.

• Invoice projects and coordinate the scheduling of installation and delivery of products and materials.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or GED is required.

• An Associate's Degree in civil, architectural, or a design-related field may be necessary.

• Relevant work experience can be considered in lieu of educational requirements.

• A minimum of 1 year of drafting experience in the construction or building materials industry is required.

• At least 1 year of experience in roof/floor truss design is essential.

• Experience with Mitek software is highly preferred.

• Strong technical writing skills are essential.

• Excellent sales and communication abilities are required.

• Proficiency in proprietary software, AUTOCAD, and the ability to read technical drawings is necessary.

• Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints in an architectural context is required.

• Proficient in PC operations with Microsoft Office, AUTO CAD, and other design software.

• Adherence to company policies, standards, workplace safety protocols, and completion of assigned training is mandatory.
