Electrical Designer II – Arc Flash, Power Studies

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +13 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist in engineering studies for mission-critical facilities, which include hyperscale and enterprise data centers, industrial sites, and commercial projects.

• Gather and organize data related to electrical systems, encompassing equipment nameplate details, conductor and cable specifications, protective device configurations, and utility information.

• Develop and maintain one-line diagrams and system models in power system analysis software under the supervision of a licensed Electrical Engineer.

• Produce Arc Flash warning labels, equipment schedules, and study report exhibits for review by engineers.

• Participate in site visits for data collection and verification of actual electrical conditions.

• Create, draft, and publish electrical construction documents, including one-line diagrams and technical specifications.

• Aid in the review of submittals, RFIs, and change orders pertaining to overcurrent protective devices, switchgear, and transformers.

• Establish and uphold company AutoCAD/Revit standards and templates for Arc Flash and electrical safety deliverables.

• Perform quality checks on drawings and study documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

• Assist with project documentation, including design updates, as-built drawings, and technical submittals.

• Execute tasks accurately, efficiently, and within set deadlines.

• Collaborate with Meade personnel, clients, vendors, and external disciplines.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as an electrical designer/drafter.

• Willingness to gain a practical understanding of Arc Flash and coordination study principles is necessary.

• Required proficiency in AutoCAD.

• Strong skills in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities, with a capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

• Ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, and other Designers.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Experience with Revit and BIM is a plus.

• Familiarity with power system analysis software like SKM, ETAP, or Easy Power is advantageous.

• Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E is preferred.

• Experience with Arc Flash, Short Circuit, or Protective Device Coordination Studies is preferred but not mandatory.

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Employment may be contingent upon the successful completion of background checks, drug testing, and other pre-employment requirements.
