Mechanical Engineer IV

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas.

📋 Description

• Oversee the mechanical design of enclosures, mounts, and ruggedized assemblies intended for electronic and RF hardware.

• Develop 3D CAD models, comprehensive drawings, and tolerance analyses for both prototyping and production phases.

• Lead initiatives for rapid prototyping (including 3D printing and machining) and promote design-for-manufacturability practices.

• Conduct thermal, structural, and environmental analyses to ensure compliance with ruggedization and operational standards.

• Work collaboratively with electrical, RF, and embedded engineers on mechanical integration and packaging solutions.

• Choose appropriate materials and components; oversee BOMs and engineering documentation management.

• Assist in field testing, hardening processes, and design iterations informed by operational feedback.

• Liaise with technicians and vendors regarding builds, fabrication, and assembly tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance – U.S. Citizenship is a requirement.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 8 years of mechanical design experience focusing on electronic or ruggedized hardware products.

• Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

• Familiarity with rapid prototyping, machining processes, and design for manufacturability principles.

• Knowledgeable in thermal management and environmental/ruggedization standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810).

• Practical experience in prototyping and lab validation techniques.

• Strong ability to collaborate across disciplines.
