This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.
• Exhibit expertise in all methodologies related to metal building system design, including intricate and advanced framing systems, bespoke configurations, and non-standard structural solutions.
• Takes on supervisory duties in the absence of the Engineering Manager, aiding in departmental operations and decision-making processes.
• Collaborates directly with clients to create optimized building solutions, providing technical guidance and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
• Designs and manages projects that involve high-complexity metal building systems, ensuring adherence to structural codes, customer requirements, and company standards.
• Possesses a solid grasp of structural engineering principles, capable of applying and adapting company design standards to unique and customized building scenarios.
• Offers professional oversight and accountability for projects needing signature and seal, ensuring engineering responsibility and compliance with regulations.
• Demonstrates proficiency in structural design software and a commitment to continuously enhancing technical knowledge, especially in customizing tools for non-standard applications.
• Complies with project timelines, adeptly managing shifting priorities and last-minute changes to ensure timely delivery.
• Utilizes sound engineering judgment to prioritize public safety, balancing efficiency with suitable design conservatism.
• Actively mentors and trains junior and mid-level engineers, promoting technical development and maintaining quality standards across the team.
• Recognizes opportunities for design enhancements and cost savings through innovative engineering solutions.
• Design Engineer IV Licensed Professional Engineer across multiple states is preferred, with the capability to provide sealed design documents as necessary.
• Demonstrated ability to design metal buildings of medium to high complexity, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with customer specifications.
• Consistently enhances productivity while upholding high standards of accuracy and completeness, focusing on minimizing manufacturing and drafting costs and improving efficiency and overall customer value.
• Proficient in balancing and prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
• EDUCATION/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related field).
• Professional Engineering (PE or SE) Licensure with a minimum of 10 years of pertinent experience in metal building design or structural engineering.
• Skilled in structural design and modeling software (e.g., RISA, STAAD, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
