📋 Description

• Create and design heat rejection and HVAC systems specifically for data centers, focusing on cooling types, cooling loads, future adaptability, phased construction and operation, airflow management, humidity regulation, redundancy, energy efficiency, and adherence to standards.

• Choose suitable air- and water-side cooling systems, including fan wall units, CRAHs, chilled water systems, DX systems, CRAC units, in-row cooling, and containment solutions.

• Execute internal CFD simulations to enhance airflow, analyze transient conditions, identify hotspots, and ensure optimal cooling efficiency.

• Perform external CFD analyses for individual buildings and campuses to assess component interactions and design-day capacity criteria.

• Prepare or oversee the creation of CFD models, evaluate results, suggest design modifications, and optimize heat rejection and HVAC system performance.

• Coordinate design changes and their implications with other project disciplines.

• Design redundant and fault-tolerant HVAC systems, including backup cooling, automatic switchover, and monitoring systems.

• Conduct heat-load calculations for data centers based on IT equipment, power density, expected growth, and construction and operational phasing.

• Manage capacity planning for future expansions and upgrades, including HVAC loads for administrative and common facility areas.

• Implement energy-efficient HVAC strategies, such as economizers, variable speed drives, energy recovery systems, and airflow optimization.

• Design filtration and air-quality monitoring systems to manage particulate matter, humidity, and contaminants.

• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate HVAC and heat rejection systems with electrical infrastructure, UPS, emergency power, fire suppression, and other essential systems.

• Engage in a hands-on, client-facing role with global AECOM teams on prominent data center projects.
