This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Create and engineer mechanical and structural reactor components utilizing SolidWorks.
β’ Act as a technical liaison between the Mechanical/Structural Design team and the ANSYS FEA teams.
β’ Identify necessary analyses, design inputs, loading conditions, constraints, boundary conditions, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with FEA engineers.
β’ Convert component geometry, operational conditions, loads, materials, and design specifications into inputs for structural and FEA analysis.
β’ Assess and interpret ANSYS FEA results, focusing on stress, deformation, thermal effects, and other performance metrics.
β’ Adjust and enhance component designs based on analytical outcomes, engineering specifications, manufacturability, and nuclear design standards.
β’ Create comprehensive 3D models, component designs, assemblies, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks.
β’ Implement mechanical engineering principles in component design.
β’ Evaluate drawings, calculations, models, specifications, and technical documentation for precision and design adherence.
β’ Collaborate with mechanical, structural, FEA, materials, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines.
β’ Assist engineering operations in line with applicable nuclear codes, standards, quality expectations, and project design criteria.
β’ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
β’ Over 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or mechanical component design.
β’ Practical experience with SolidWorks in designing intricate mechanical components and assemblies.
β’ Background in designing mechanical components for nuclear applications.
β’ Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical design, structural mechanics, stress analysis, materials, loads, and component behavior.
β’ Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis and the capability to work closely with FEA engineers.
β’ Proficient in conveying analysis requirements, including loads, constraints, boundary conditions, stresses, deformation, and design specifications.
β’ Experience in interpreting FEA results and integrating insights into mechanical designs.
β’ Proven track record in reviewing engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical design documentation.
β’ Strong analytical skills and sound mechanical engineering judgment.
β’ Capability to work efficiently across mechanical design, structural, and analysis disciplines.
β’ Temporary work authorization or the necessity for sponsorship may disqualify candidates from employment.
β’ Preferred: experience with ANSYS FEA, advanced nuclear reactor/SMR/nuclear power generation, reactor components, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, mechanical and thermal stress analysis, nuclear quality assurance, and controlled nuclear engineering design environments.
