This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Develop and sustain comprehensive SolidWorks models, assemblies, drawings, bills of material, and fabrication documentation for tailored mechanical equipment.
• Implement design-for-manufacturability principles to facilitate effective fabrication, inspection, assembly, installation, operation, and maintenance of the equipment.
• Assist in the design development for high-temperature equipment, molten salt systems, furnace components, fixtures, piping interfaces, and associated mechanical assemblies.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, piping engineers, electrical engineers, controls personnel, procurement teams, vendors, and fabrication staff to coordinate design specifics.
• Update drawings and models based on design reviews, constructability feedback, vendor recommendations, field modifications, and configuration-controlled revisions.
• Ensure precise technical documentation is maintained in alignment with project quality, safety, document control, and configuration management standards.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, including experience with complex assemblies, detailed part modeling, fabrication drawings, drawing standards, and bills of material.
• Extensive experience in design-for-manufacturability with custom equipment, fabricated assemblies, industrial systems, or process equipment.
• Capable of interpreting engineering directives, calculations, sketches, specifications, and technical requirements, and translating them into precise design outputs.
• Proven experience in coordinating design specifics with engineers, fabricators, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Exceptional attention to detail, quality of documentation, revision control, and practical considerations for fabrication and assembly.
• Preferred experience in designing high-temperature equipment, including molten salt systems, furnace components, thermal equipment, specialty materials, or insulated assemblies.
• Preferred experience in supporting projects related to DOE, NNSA, nuclear energy, advanced energy, chemical processing, manufacturing, or highly regulated technical fields.
• Preferred knowledge in drawing checking, tolerance review, weldments, sheet metal fabrication, machined parts, piping interfaces, or vendor fabrication packages.
