Mechanical Design Engineer, Batteries

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Responsible for mechanical design related to battery cell integration, enclosures, and electro-mechanical assemblies.

• Develop 3D models, 2D drawings, GD&T, and BOMs for tooling production.

• Conduct tolerance stack-ups, DFMEA, and activities aimed at design robustness.

• Revise designs to accommodate automated assembly, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing transitions.

• Provide support for prototyping, on-site builds, suppliers, and global manufacturing partners.

• Collaborate with suppliers, validation teams, manufacturing, and purchasing departments.

• Drive technical decision-making and tackle complex mechanical issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electromechanical, Manufacturing, Automotive, or Aerospace engineering is required.

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in product design is essential.

• Familiarity with batteries, energy storage, EV, or PCBA packaging is necessary.

• Proficient CAD skills in Onshape, NX, and SolidWorks are required.

• Experience with PFMEA, PPAP, and DFM is necessary.

• Advanced English proficiency at B2–C1 level is required.

• A valid travel visa is mandatory.

• Knowledge of thermal management is preferred as an additional asset.

• Experience in prototyping and FEA is a plus.

• Familiarity with PLM tools such as Teamcenter, Windchill, or Agile is preferred as a nice-to-have.

• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills are essential.

• Demonstrated leadership in technical decision-making is required.

• Ability to collaborate effectively across suppliers, validation, manufacturing, and purchasing teams.

• Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail are necessary.
