Mechanical Design Engineer – Automotive Plastic Product Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Create exceptional designs for high-volume automation machinery within the Vehicle Packaging team.

• Provide technical designs that are optimized for weight, accuracy, durability, and manufacturability.

• Carry out CAD, FEA, and durability simulations.

• Suggest prototypes and oversee testing procedures.

• Conduct design evaluations and ensure adherence to standards such as ASTM and ISTA.

• Produce finalized designs, drawings, and specifications for supplier bidding and compliance.

• Investigate and adopt new materials and techniques to enhance packaging capabilities.

• Collaborate with engineering teams on design, manufacturing, and material flow initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• Over 5 years of experience in mechanical design from concept to production validation.

• Extensive knowledge in plastics design and manufacturing.

• Proficient in CAD/CAE tools, including CATIA, Pro‑Engineer, and ANSYS.

• Understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and design for manufacturing (DFM).

• Familiar with injection molding, machining, and welding processes.

• Experience in reliability design, durability testing, and automation equipment.
