Mechanical Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Create and design mechanical parts, assemblies, and vehicle systems utilizing 3D CAD software and adhering to engineering best practices.

• Generate comprehensive manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), GD&T, and technical documentation for production.

• Execute engineering calculations, tolerance stack-ups, material selection, and design analyses.

• Formulate designs that prioritize manufacturability, maintainability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

• Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to address design challenges during the prototype, production, and sustainment stages.

• Assist in prototype builds, design verification, qualification testing, and validation efforts.

• Engage in design reviews, DFMEA, design optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Oversee design modifications and uphold configuration integrity throughout the product lifecycle.

• Ensure that designs meet Defence standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be an Australian Citizen for this position.

• Proven experience in mechanical design utilizing CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or Inventor.

• Demonstrated experience in producing manufacturing drawings, BOMs, GD&T, and engineering documentation.

• Background in designing mechanical components or assemblies for defence, automotive, or heavy vehicle sectors.

• Experience in supporting prototype development, design verification, and product testing.

• Familiarity with working in a configuration-controlled product development setting.

• Over 12 years of software engineering and platform delivery experience.
