• Formulates and implements the annual Territory Sales Plan for the Renewables sector.
• Mentors, develops, and guides team members responsible for pipeline management, client relationships, and account management (direct reports and seller/doers).
• Collaborates with Market Leaders and Inside Sales to present, promote, and sell services and solutions within the Renewables industry to both existing and prospective clients.
• Engages proactively with peer directors, the GM/VP, and leadership in shared services to collaboratively design and execute forward-thinking LLS strategies, ensuring alignment across departments on future growth goals.
• Conducts market analysis and assesses potential, developing and implementing Lifeline Sector plans that consider external factors (industry, competition, client dynamics) and identifies necessary internal support (services, marketing, communications, advertising, trade shows, SOQs, collateral, pricing, etc.) to achieve objectives.
• Advocates for a consultative approach and leads with influence across various departments (Engineering/Operations, Strategic Growth & Marketing, Project Management) to deliver comprehensive, solutions-focused service offerings to partners.
• Demonstrates intellectual curiosity to foresee industry changes and pinpoint emerging opportunities.
• Collaborates with fellow leaders in the renewables business unit and shared services to implement market strategies and operational business plans.
• Influences across the organization (Engineering/Operations, Strategic Growth & Marketing, Proposals, Project Management, Finance, HR, Legal) to seek, propose, and secure business.
• Works with Marketing and Communications to ensure that supporting marketing and communication materials and channels are effectively utilized.
• Collaborates with Strategic Growth and Insights teams to research and strategize on Ulteig’s positioning in new and emerging markets.
• Safeguards and enhances Ulteig’s reputation, credentials, and relationships within the industry and among clients.
• Acts as the Client Lead for select, significant clients.
• Sets, meets, and surpasses sales targets and key business development metrics: pipeline, orders, Client Experience Index, and business development budget.
• In partnership with the GM, the Market Director is ultimately responsible for the commercial negotiation of Master Service Agreements.
• Remains updated on industry trends and best practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering; Master’s degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in business development is required.
• At least five years of leadership experience, with a proven track record of building flexible, high-performing teams.
• Direct experience in the utility-scale Renewable sector (wind, solar, storage).
• Proven business development success in strategizing and executing account plans.
• Outstanding facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering long-lasting trust with strategic industry partners and internal teammates.
• Exceptional capacity to engage and collaborate with peer directors and executives to influence enterprise-wide, forward-thinking initiatives.
• Ability to communicate, influence, and collaborate with individuals across all organizational levels.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% (typically 5 to 8 nights per month).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the capability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with current and potential clients and internal colleagues.
• Established reputation as a leader in the renewables industry, with a comprehensive understanding of the full project lifecycle, adept at anticipating and addressing the nuanced, consultative needs of various client types.
• Demonstrates excellent facilitation, presentation, verbal/written communication, time-management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Shows the ability to be organized, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines by prioritizing work tasks effectively.
