Director of Trust & Safety

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Establish and manage the Trust & Safety operating model from inception, including team structure, workflows, tools, and the roadmap for scaling.

• Reduce fraud losses and platform risk by identifying and monitoring key metrics that significantly impact performance.

• Convert marketplace threats into executive-level reports that secure budget approval and stakeholder support.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to implement fraud detection, identity verification, and moderation tools that yield tangible results rather than just additional features.

• Oversee high-severity incident responses, facilitating collaboration among Legal, Engineering, and Operations to ensure investigations lead to changes in policy and product development.

• Assess and manage relationships with vendors providing fraud and identity solutions, making informed decisions on build-vs-buy options.

• Establish a robust policy framework with Legal to ensure compliance and audit readiness across the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in Trust & Safety, Fraud Operations, or Risk Management.

• At least 5 years of leadership experience, including managing other managers or senior individual contributors.

• A proven history of building or scaling Trust & Safety, fraud, or marketplace-integrity functions, rather than merely overseeing existing operations.

• Demonstrated ability to transform operational challenges into effective systems and influence cross-functional strategic roadmaps.

• Experience in reporting metrics and outcomes directly to executive-level stakeholders.

• Background in a rapidly growing marketplace, platform, or consumer internet enterprise.

• Professional proficiency in English, with a minimum of C1 level in both written and spoken forms.

• Practical experience with identity verification or fraud prevention tools such as Jumio, LexisNexis, TransUnion, or IPQS.
