This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +3 more states.
• Initiate, finalize, and oversee substantial and intricate client projects.
• Supervise team members and assist with associated business development initiatives.
• Monitor and evaluate trends in the energy market.
• Convert client inquiries and challenges into implementable scopes of work.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and various documents that convey solutions, strategies, and analyses to clients.
• Facilitate daily management of client relationships.
• Create and utilize analytical models, programming, and simulations to predict market prices, conduct research and development, and develop productivity and accuracy tools.
• Review and validate model outputs through data collection, manipulation, and analysis, including spreadsheet and database creation and management.
• Assess ISO/RTO markets throughout North America, including energy pricing, capacity auctions, ancillary services, load composition, and demand response.
• Oversee simulations of future power transmission grid dispatch using an economic dispatch model.
• Evaluate additions and retirements of generating resources utilizing capacity expansion models across ISO/RTO markets.
• Assist in the development of Guidehouse’s bi-annual Reference Case and broaden the client base.
• Mentor junior consultants on energy markets, business development, and client relationship management.
• Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident due to the nature of client engagements.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, energy finance, or engineering AND 5+ years of relevant post-graduation work experience; OR a Master’s degree in those fields AND 3+ years of relevant post-graduation work experience.
• Relevant post-graduation work experience with economic dispatch models such as Aurora, Origin, PLEXOS, BID3, or PSO.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in data analytics, data modeling, and visualization.
• Proactive and independent working style.
• Capacity to manage significant portions of tasks while working collaboratively within a close-knit team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel.
• Ability to work in a Guidehouse Office or Client Office location.
• Must reside in the contiguous United States.
• Preference for candidates who live within a reasonable driving distance of a core Guidehouse Office or Client Office location.
• Experience in generation and storage asset management is preferred.
• A graduate degree (Masters, MBA, PhD) is preferred.
