This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Supervise the legal defense of workers’ compensation cases from the beginning to the final outcome.
• Manage an active caseload while leading and mentoring a team of attorneys.
• Direct and oversee a group of attorneys and legal personnel.
• Provide guidance, training, performance evaluations, and opportunities for professional growth.
• Oversee case strategy, litigation oversight, and ensure legal work products meet quality and consistency standards.
• Manage discovery processes, depositions, settlement negotiations, hearings, and trial preparations.
• Collaborate with firm leadership regarding workflow management, staffing, and initiatives for departmental growth.
• Maintain robust client relationships and deliver outstanding client service.
• Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and nurturing legal talent.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team environment.
• Ensure adherence to firm policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Demonstrate clear and conceptual thinking, judgment, troubleshooting, analysis, and discretion.
• Effectively manage work-related stress, multiple priorities, and deadlines.
• Perform computer keyboarding and travel as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor degree required.
• Member in good standing of the State Bar of California.
• At least 5 years of preferred experience in workers’ compensation defense.
• Prior experience in management, supervision, or mentoring is strongly preferred.
• Exceptional research, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong abilities in leadership, organization, and team management.
• Commitment to proactive case management and client service excellence.
• Experience with Merus or Litify is preferred but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Teams is preferred but not mandatory.
