• Lead and expand a small, senior team by mentoring on active deals, enhancing judgment and technical expertise, and recruiting individuals who enhance the team's capabilities rather than simply increasing its size.
• Establish and maintain a high bar for enterprise discovery, technical assessments, and successful implementations that have a direct impact on new customer acquisition and growth.
• Collaborate closely with Sales as a reliable technical partner on intricate enterprise opportunities, assisting in shaping deal strategies, architecture, and ensuring execution quality.
• Work across Tailscale to enhance the execution of proofs of concept, articulate technical value, and transform genuine customer feedback into product direction.
• Deliver clear, actionable feedback to Product and Engineering based on specific customer use cases and enterprise constraints rather than hypothetical scenarios.
• Remain updated on trends in cloud computing, DevOps, networking, and security, while helping the team continuously refine both technical instincts and communication skills.
• Proven experience in leading teams, preferably as a working manager who enjoys engaging with the finer details.
• Background in a technical, customer-facing enterprise role such as Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, or a similar position.
• Strong, confident communication skills—you can simplify complex systems, gauge audience reactions, and make your point without excessive elaboration.
• Solid grasp of networking and security fundamentals, including cloud environments like AWS VPCs and Azure virtual networks.
• Practical technical experience with developer tools, DevOps principles, and contemporary cloud architectures (CI/CD, infrastructure, APIs).
• Capability to articulate Tailscale’s value in your own terms, rooted in customer results and technical trade-offs rather than promotional language.
