Manager, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand a senior engineering team focused on developing Cribl's dashboards, notebooks, visualizations, investigations, and analytical discovery functionalities.

• Collaborate closely with the Product team to convert vision into actionable execution—articulating ideas, shaping the strategic direction, and clearly communicating the 'why' to your team with enthusiasm.

• Manage the team's delivery process across dashboards, notebooks, visualizations, scheduled searches, AI-enhanced workflows, and performance enhancements that directly influence customer interactions with Cribl Search.

• Influence technical direction alongside senior engineers, ensuring that architectural choices maintain a balance between speed, quality, and long-term scalability.

• Mentor and nurture engineers at various levels, fostering a sense of shared ownership and clarity within a technically proficient, senior team.

• Serve as a storyteller for the team—linking individual contributions to the broader product vision and customer value.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of engineering experience, including a minimum of 3 years managing a team dedicated to user-facing product development.

• Experience in search, observability, analytics, or data visualization platforms.

• Proven track record of leading senior or staff-level engineers who work with significant autonomy.

• Strong partnership skills with Product Management—adept at collaboratively creating roadmaps, translating product vision, and managing ambiguity.

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments where priorities may fluctuate and the team is integral to the product's identity.
