Manager, Software Development Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and expand a team of software engineers focused on developing StrongDM’s proxy and control-plane platform, which includes responsibilities for hiring, coaching, and career advancement.

• Convert product and engineering roadmaps into actionable operational plans, overseeing execution and delivery across StrongDM and the wider Delinea Platform.

• Assess staffing and resource requirements to fulfill project timelines and objectives.

• Collaborate with engineering managers, product managers, architects, and DevOps/SRE leadership to align on priorities and share results and recommendations.

• Supervise the daily operations of the engineering team, managing work across gateways, relays, and control-plane services while balancing feature development, technical debt, and platform reliability.

• Take responsibility for the delivery of the roadmap for distributed systems developed in Go (Golang) across AWS and multi-cloud environments.

• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and career development discussions for team members.

• Oversee code and design reviews, focusing on performance, security, and maintainability, including secure network protocols and cryptographic systems.

• Collaborate to define and prioritize the roadmap, ensuring adherence to security and privacy standards as well as platform requirements.

• Advocate for engineering best practices and Infrastructure as Code, promoting continuous improvement and mentorship.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Over 2 years of experience directly managing or leading software engineering teams, complemented by a solid hands-on engineering background.

• At least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering and distributed systems.

• Proven experience in guiding teams through cloud infrastructure such as AWS and secure, high-scale network services.

• Capable of translating roadmaps into actionable plans, prioritizing tasks, and managing resources to meet deadlines.

• Strong grasp of cloud security principles, identity management, and policy-based authorization methodologies such as Cedar.

• Familiarity with secrets management and credential brokering is a plus.

• Experience in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and managing CI/CD pipelines is advantageous.

• Understanding of Zero Trust architecture, just-in-time access models, and multi-cloud deployment using AWS, Azure, or GCP is preferred.
