This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take charge of the complete US payroll process in Rippling across various states, encompassing deductions, adjustments, and off-cycle runs.
• Act as the HRIS system owner, overseeing configuration, workflow automation, data accuracy, and integrations.
• Oversee benefits administration operations in collaboration with brokers and carriers.
• Develop and maintain a multi-state compliance calendar that includes registrations, wage and hour regulations, leave laws, posting obligations, and healthcare credentialing.
• Ensure compliance with I-9 and work-authorization regulations while monitoring credential expirations for clinical staff.
• Manage the policy library and employee handbook across states utilizing AI-assisted drafting and review.
• Create and implement automated onboarding workflows for both clinical and corporate hires.
• Handle offboarding, transfers, and lifecycle changes with meticulous documentation and system maintenance.
• Manage employee-relations casework from start to finish under US employment law, which includes documentation, investigation assistance, performance improvement plans, and terminations.
• Establish performance-management infrastructure, including review cycles, calibration tools, and reporting mechanisms.
• Construct and maintain workforce dashboards that track headcount, retention, compliance status, and payroll accuracy.
• Transition manual people processes to AI-driven or automated workflows.
• 4–6+ years of experience in People Operations or HR operations, including time spent as an early People hire at a high-growth startup or scale-up.
• Direct ownership of US employment infrastructure, including multi-state payroll, state registrations, I-9 compliance, FLSA classification, and leave-law management.
• Proven experience in managing US employee-relations cases from beginning to end, including documentation and challenging conversations.
• Established AI fluency demonstrated through automated workflows, AI-assisted documentation systems, or independently created reporting builds.
• Ability to work during US Eastern business hours.
• High precision and follow-through capabilities at volume.
• Experience with Rippling administration is preferred.
• Background supporting a frontline, multi-site, or healthcare workforce is preferred.
• Experience with an EOR, PEO, or payroll provider serving US clients is preferred.
• Familiarity with implementing or migrating an HRIS or payroll platform is preferred.
