This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the recruitment and hiring processes by closely partnering with hiring managers, offering insights on job descriptions, role scope, candidate evaluation, and equitable hiring practices that align with organizational values and workforce requirements.
• Organize onboarding processes and schedules, aiding hiring managers and team members in understanding and fulfilling their responsibilities, ensuring new employees feel welcomed and confident in completing necessary onboarding tasks.
• Work alongside hiring managers to keep job descriptions updated, clearly defined, and in line with changing responsibilities and organizational demands.
• Approach existing people & culture processes with a focus on simplicity, clarity, and ongoing enhancement by gathering feedback, conducting best practice research, and suggesting improvements.
• Facilitate human-centric and values-driven offboarding processes.
• Utilize available data to identify trends and support employee retention initiatives, enhancements to employee experience, and organizational culture projects.
• Assist the Director of People & Culture in managing employee relations issues, HR inquiries, and everyday People & Culture needs for all staff, escalating issues to the Director as necessary.
• Supervise the administration of the human resources information system (HRIS, currently Bamboo HR), ensuring employee records are secure, organized, and appropriately accessible, with personnel data kept current.
• Manage the day-to-day coordination of employee benefits programs for U.S.-based staff, including enrollment support, qualifying life events, annual Open Enrollment, benefits communication, and collaboration with external benefits administrators and brokers.
• Provide bi-weekly payroll updates to the Finance team and ensure timely personnel updates across all relevant platforms (HRIS, payroll, benefits, etc.).
• Collaborate with appropriate operations and technology personnel to guarantee People & Culture tools, resources, documents, and data are securely stored, easily searchable, and maintained in compliance with record retention laws and requirements.
• Communicate relevant HR dates, deadlines, and processes to staff, ensuring smooth information flow regarding people and culture processes.
• Monitor key employee and contractor dates, prompting timely actions on renewals or position updates, while keeping affected staff informed.
• Support strategies aimed at enhancing employee engagement, celebrating achievements, and fostering a collaborative, aligned, and enjoyable work environment.
• Advocate for and integrate organizational values into daily operations, implementing programs and providing resources to promote employee well-being and work-life balance.
• A minimum of five years of relevant, comparable professional HR experience, showcasing a history of progressive responsibility within a systems change-focused nonprofit or philanthropic intermediary.
• SHRM certification is advantageous.
• Essential experience in supporting U.S.-based employees, including the administration and coordination of employee benefits programs, benefits communication, annual open enrollment, qualifying life events, and collaboration with external benefits brokers and providers.
• Familiarity with U.S. employment practices and HR compliance regulations is crucial.
• Cross-cultural competency and prior HR experience with multinational or international nonprofits are considered beneficial.
• Highly approachable, trustworthy, and adept at cultivating authentic relationships across diverse identities and cultures while operating in a remote environment across various time zones.
• Strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information.
• Willingness to travel internationally—approximately two weeks per year—and work occasional irregular hours to accommodate staff time zones.
• Fluency in written and spoken English is required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
