This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, expand, and nurture a team of over 3 data scientists and governance experts.
• Take ownership of enhancing performance monitoring, drift monitoring, fair lending evaluations, governance documentation, validation, model inventory, and change management.
• Establish the long-term vision for the model risk and governance function.
• Determine which processes to automate, what to standardize, and identify opportunities to surpass industry standards.
• Manage governance-related relationships across Data Science, Engineering, Partner Success, and Sales departments.
• Conduct customer-facing calls and collaborate directly with model risk teams at banks and fintech organizations.
• Assist clients in adopting solutions while adhering to governance standards, facilitating deals and deployments.
• Create validation reports, governance documents, and performance summaries for leadership, clients, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
• Monitor governance issues through remediation and oversee the team's roadmap.
• Engage in hands-on activities as necessary to advance projects or mentor team members.
• Over 8 years of experience in model risk management, model validation, model governance, or quantitative risk.
• Demonstrated experience in building or scaling a governance/risk team.
• More than 4 years of experience in people management.
• In-depth understanding of model governance within financial institutions.
• Familiarity with SR 11-7, SR 26-2, OCC guidance, fair lending, and the regulatory landscape.
• Direct experience in validating or governing ML/statistical models in a regulated setting.
• Capability to interpret models, analyze methodologies, and collaborate effectively with data scientists.
• Proficient in Python and skilled in SQL.
• Strong analytical abilities using Excel/Google Sheets.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to convey technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related STEM field.
• Must have legal authorization to work and reside in the US.
• Preferred: experience with fraud, identity verification, credit risk, or financial risk models.
• Preferred: experience in supporting model governance with banks or regulated financial institutions.
• Preferred: experience with AWS (S3, SageMaker) and GitHub.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
