Manager, Machine Learning Engineering – Checkout

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of machine learning engineers focused on developing models for credit lending decisions across Europe and Australia.

• Establish the technical strategy for the team and align engineers' contributions with business-critical underwriting initiatives.

• Define and champion technical solutions and operational workflows.

• Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, risk management, and engineering throughout the product development lifecycle.

• Ensure that technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are acknowledged and effectively managed.

• Foster talent development through constructive feedback, mentorship, and exemplary leadership.

• Design, implement, and scale sophisticated machine learning solutions.

• Play a key role in shaping Affirm's long-term machine learning strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.

• Over 8 years of experience in the industry.

• At least 3 years of experience in managing engineers.

• Background in financial services, with a focus on credit and lending.

• Expertise in machine learning, including tree-based models, transformers, deep learning, and agentic machine learning.

• Strong engineering capabilities.

• Capacity to provide hands-on technical guidance while engaging with code and system architecture.

• Proficient in navigating from low-level programming concepts to the architecture of large-scale systems.
