
Manager II – Engineering – Instrumentation & Controls – Gas Power Generation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Oversee the instrumentation and controls engineering program for the company’s gas generation division.
• Act as the engineering representative for the company from the proposal stage to the completion of construction.
• Develop engineering and gas business strategies for the gas generation division.
• Build relationships with various business units, equipment suppliers, and balance-of-plant providers.
• Comprehend client design specifications and the evolving trends within the gas-generation market.
• Coordinate engineering tasks and harmonize technical activities between clients and the company.
• Create and promote safety standards for the gas-generation engineering program.
• Ensure project adherence to relevant industry standards concerning reciprocating engine, combustion turbine installations, and fuel gas systems.
• Conduct root cause analyses for issues related to engineering and instrumentation and controls.
• Formulate and execute program management policies, standards, procedures, and design guidelines.
• Manage design bases for power-block and balance-of-plant instrumentation and controls.
• Integrate instrumentation and controls with electrical generators, equipment, protection, and power systems.
• Assess technologies, resource requirements, market trends, project viability, and value-engineering options.
• Maintain libraries of design-basis documents and assist procurement and estimating teams.
• Review project scopes for completeness, identifying any gaps or overlaps among suppliers, vendors, and company responsibilities.
• Assist in constructability reviews to minimize field labor and enhance installation quality.
• Support plant startup, first fire, synchronization, performance testing, and commissioning activities.
• Serve as the escalation point for issues related to instrumentation and controls commissioning.
• Evaluate design, installation, and commissioning processes for power-generation block and balance-of-plant instrumentation and controls.
• Manage controller communication protocols, interface design, DCS integration, and data historian configuration.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering experience in gas power generation.
• At least two years of leadership experience.
• A Registered Professional Engineering (PE) license is highly preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Knowledge of reciprocating engine and gas turbine equipment along with associated balance-of-plant equipment.
• Familiarity with MODBUS, Profi-Bus, Foundation Field-Bus, and other communication protocols.
• Understanding of civil, mechanical instrumentation and controls, and electrical power engineering principles.
• Proficient with computer and analytical tools, equipment sizing, construction design, and 3-D modeling.
• Experience with instrumentation and controls programming and commissioning tools.
• Knowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
• Familiarity with Emissions Control Systems, particularly Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR).
• Understanding of power-generation engineering standards and best practices.
• Strong oral, written, listening, and presentation communication skills.
