Manager, Data Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Provide well-structured and robust datasets for various requests, projects, professionals, and customers.

• Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure that revenue models align, remain consistent amid upstream changes, and are auditable.

• Work alongside the Supply Acquisition and Business Platforms teams on their strategic roadmaps.

• Enhance the reliability of core pipelines through dbt tests, continuous integration, anomaly detection, and well-defined contracts.

• Recruit and develop mid-level and senior data engineers.

• Cultivate technical leaders who can manage a domain from start to finish.

• Establish engineering standards for review processes, testing, and prioritization.

• Make and justify decisions regarding modeling and architecture as a technical manager.

• Assist in designing data architecture for API-first sales, support, and trust & safety platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years managing engineers, or experience as a tech lead prepared to transition into first-line management.

• At least 6 years of experience in building data or software systems in production environments.

• Proficiency in SQL and expertise in dimensional and event modeling.

• Familiarity with Python programming.

• Experience managing datasets relied upon by other teams, including testing, contracts, and version control discipline.

• Proven ability to translate vague business inquiries into sustainable models and metric definitions.

• Excellent collaboration and written communication skills.
