This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and implement media relations strategies to achieve favorable coverage across national, trade, and regional media outlets.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers within pertinent sectors.
• Handle media inquiries and ensure timely, accurate responses are coordinated.
• Assist state communications managers with media inquiries and journalist outreach.
• Create briefing materials, talking points, and background information for media interviews.
• Identify and secure impactful speaking engagements for organizational leaders.
• Aid in the development of presentations, including slide design and alignment of messaging.
• Maintain and enhance master messaging resources for consistent external communication.
• Generate and manage press releases, op-eds, blogs, and social media content.
• Oversee content planning and execution for quarterly webinars and monthly newsletters.
• Manage and update the editorial style guide.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure uniform external communication.
• Develop and implement a thought leadership strategy to position CAA as a reputable voice in the industry.
• Produce articles, white papers, and commentary for appropriate publications.
• Supervise and mentor the External Communications Specialist.
• Promote collaboration between internal communications and marketing teams.
• Monitor national and state media coverage and evaluate performance metrics.
• Provide regular reports to leadership regarding external communications activities and results.
• Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
• Over 5 years of experience in external communications, media relations, or public affairs.
• Demonstrated success in obtaining media coverage and managing executive visibility initiatives.
• Outstanding writing and editing skills for developing engaging narratives.
• Experience in managing content calendars and adhering to editorial guidelines.
• Capable of excelling in a fast-paced, mission-oriented environment.
• Expertise in media relations and storytelling.
