Machinist Assistant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska.

📋 Description

• Support plant machinists in their daily responsibilities

• Assist with the repair, maintenance, and installation of equipment within designated areas

• Provide assistance and follow instructions from plant machinists

• Carry out pre-shift preparations for food processing equipment, which includes greasing, assembling, inspecting, repairing, and starting up equipment

• Engage in preseason initiatives, such as equipment installation, fabrication, and rebuilding

• Participate in welding tasks utilizing arc, TIG, MIG, and oxyacetylene techniques

• Execute other assigned tasks, duties, and training as needed

⛳️ Requirements

• Entry-level role aimed at training an individual to become a machinist

• Capability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural setting

• Must be willing to work overtime when necessary

• Ability to work 11 or more hours a day, 7 days a week

• Competence in performing tasks safely, responsibly, and efficiently

• Consistent and reliable attendance

• Adherence to professionalism and high-quality work standards

• Compliance with company and OSHA safety regulations, including those related to Covid-19

• Basic mechanical skills

• Willingness to learn and accept guidance

• Capacity to work under pressure while maintaining safety and efficiency

• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools

• Strong organizational and communication abilities

• Must be capable of bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting for extended durations

• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at once

• Must be able to work in cold and wet conditions

• Must be comfortable working with and around seafood

• Must be willing and able to travel by airplane to remote locations
