Machine Learning Technical Lead – Artificial Intelligence, AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Manage the comprehensive execution of machine learning systems, including data pipelines, training workflows, evaluation frameworks, inference architecture, and deployment.

• Refine and customize models utilizing LoRA, QLoRA, SFT, DPO, and distillation techniques.

• Design and maintain scalable inference systems, ensuring an optimal balance between latency, cost, and reliability.

• Create and uphold data systems for both synthetic and real-world training datasets.

• Develop evaluation pipelines that assess performance, robustness, safety, and bias.

• Oversee production deployment, focusing on GPU optimization, memory efficiency, latency reduction, and scaling strategies.

• Collaborate with application engineering teams to seamlessly integrate ML systems into backend, mobile, and desktop applications.

• Make practical trade-offs and implement enhancements swiftly.

• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues while minimizing user disruption.

• Facilitate team alignment and ensure the delivery of impactful ML projects.

• Proven experience in building or deploying real-world machine learning systems that are utilized by end-users, beyond mere demonstrations.

• A background in Artificial Intelligence (AI) is essential.

• Familiarity with large models and insight into their failure modes.

• Proficient in writing robust, production-quality code.

• Self-motivated, pragmatic, and takes full responsibility for results.

• Excellent communication skills and effective collaboration within small, high-trust teams.

• Experience with GPU-driven training and inference systems.

• Proficiency in JAX, Python, and PyTorch.
