Loss Control Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct loss control surveys, mainly in Michigan.

• Evaluate risks, exposures, and control measures.

• Create service plans and offer consulting for larger accounts.

• Foster and maintain relationships with underwriters and agencies.

• Oversee loss control assignments to ensure risk enhancement and ongoing account support.

• Aim to reduce loss trends in various lines of business and enhance safety programs.

• Analyze operations and exposures using established loss control methodologies.

• Evaluate risk attitudes and pinpoint opportunities for risk enhancements.

• Provide recommendations and improve safety initiatives.

• Implement OSHA, NFPA, and DOT regulations and standards in loss control survey activities.

• Research businesses prior to conducting loss control surveys.

• Assess lines of business utilizing loss control evaluation tools.

• Deliver risk assessments that support underwriting decisions.

• Identify and propose solutions for intricate risk challenges.

• Travel to client locations to execute loss control surveys and evaluations.

• Establish trust with underwriters, agents, and insureds while adhering to customer experience standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess a valid and unrestricted driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

• Proven ability to multitask and address problems effectively.

• Exhibit strong time management skills, capable of meeting deadlines.

• Excellent negotiation and relationship-building abilities.

• Strong analytical skills with sound judgment in risk evaluation.

• Intermediate organizational and prioritization skills, capable of managing multiple tasks.

• Demonstrated knowledge of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts.

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in occupational health and safety.

• Proficient in core systems, office equipment, and software applications.

• Willingness to travel up to 20% overnight, including by car and commercial airline.

• Capacity to drive long distances without breaks, including four hours or more.

• Ability to safely access and move through customer facilities, including occasional use of stairs, ladders, and elevated areas.

• Capability to work in both indoor and outdoor customer settings, such as construction sites, roadways, and manufacturing areas.

• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and engage in prolonged walking, standing, climbing, and navigating customer work locations.

• Intermediate understanding of OSHA, NFPA, and DOT regulations and standards.

• Experience in implementing loss control practices, processes, and evaluation tools.

• Commitment to continuing education, including obtaining one or more certifications such as CSP, ARM, CRM, OHST, or CHST.
