Loss Control Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site loss control surveys and virtual consultations for potential and existing commercial lines accounts.

• Assess account operations, hazards, exposures, and safety initiatives within a specified geographic area.

• Prepare reports and documentation to assist underwriting personnel in evaluating risk feasibility.

• Inspect account facilities and assess the effectiveness of safety programs.

• Verify compliance with OSHA, NFPA, DOT, ANSI, as well as state and local regulations and standards.

• Conduct agency visits to advocate for loss control services and initiatives.

• Offer loss control consulting and safety management suggestions to minimize, eliminate, or manage hazards and exposures.

• Execute basic industrial hygiene and health assessments, including noise and ergonomic evaluations.

• Provide on-site training as necessary.

• Participate in branch large loss meetings and other gatherings requiring loss control expertise.

• Develop, present, and discuss recommendations with clients to enhance conditions.

• Undertake projects assigned by the Home Office Manager or Team Leader, including overseeing vendor loss control activities within designated territories.

• Collaborate directly with underwriting and claims teams, agents, and insured parties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must reside within the specified Alabama territory, preferably in the Birmingham or Montgomery area.

• A bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in safety, science, or engineering.

• Continuing education through specialized courses such as ALCM and ARM, along with certifications like ASP, CSP, CIH, or OHST is preferred.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in property/casualty loss control, including conducting surveys and providing consulting services on written accounts is required.

• Strong technical and professional knowledge of loss control/safety measures for commercial lines and programs.

• Comprehensive understanding of operational practices for industrial, construction, institutional, commercial, educational, and habitational properties.

• Good grasp of commercial insurance coverages.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

• Basic skills in training and presentation.

• Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present intricate information clearly.

• Exceptional customer service capabilities.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficient in PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be capable of operating a motor vehicle.

• Willingness to travel, including overnight stays as required.

• Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and adhere to scheduled work hours.

• Capability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders and stairs, and traversing uneven or unpaved surfaces.

• Competency in completing computer-based tasks and accessing digital information.

• Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients and present information to individuals and groups.
