Localization Specialist, Mandarin – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Transform Chinese scripts, books, and various content into English scripts while preserving the original intent, tone, and cultural subtleties.

• Collaborate effectively with team leaders to guarantee the quality and precision of localized content.

• Conduct thorough research on cultural references, idioms, and linguistic subtleties to ensure authenticity and relevance in the localization process.

• Offer feedback and recommendations for enhancing the localization workflow and processes.

• Work closely with writers, editors, and other stakeholders to maintain consistency and coherence in storytelling across multiple platforms.

• Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in localization and interactive storytelling.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Film Studies, Screenwriting, or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience in localization, translation, or adaptation within the film, TV, or screenwriting sectors.

• Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, with English being an advantage.

• Strong awareness of cultural differences and nuances, especially between Chinese and English-speaking audiences.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.

• Detail-oriented with a keen sense of quality and accuracy.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
