This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Translate, proofread, and modify text for the platform, user interface/UX, corporate website, internal systems, and related materials.
• Oversee the execution of translations within the product, ensuring proper context, formatting, truncation, and variable usage.
• Detect and report technical localization challenges, including truncated text, exposed tags, incorrectly formatted variables, and encoding issues.
• Collaborate with the Engineering team to address localization challenges.
• Sustain and enhance the Brazilian Portuguese glossary, style guide, and translation memory continuously.
• Coordinate with the Engineering team regarding character limits, variables, and interface elements.
• Work with the international team in English to clarify context, priorities, and timelines.
• Conduct linguistic quality assurance (LQA) by testing screens and user flows, comparing them to the original version.
• Adapt educational and corporate materials to align with the Brazilian cultural, linguistic, and educational context.
• Native Brazilian Portuguese speaker (or equivalent fluency), possessing exceptional writing and proofreading skills along with a strong awareness of register and tone.
• Proficient in English at an advanced level.
• Prior experience in translating and/or localizing platforms, websites, software, systems, or other digital products.
• General technical knowledge of digital products and fundamental concepts in software development/engineering.
• Familiarity with internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n), including variables/placeholders, character limits, pluralization, and file formats such as JSON, XML, .po, and .strings.
• Programming skills are not mandatory, but a comprehension of technical elements is essential when reviewing and adapting text.
• Self-driven, organized, and capable of managing multiple simultaneous requests within project-defined timelines.
• Experience with CAT tools or TMS platforms like Crowdin, Trados, memoQ, XTM, Lokalise, or Phrase is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of Git/version control, JSON, HTML, or other markup languages is a plus.
• Education or experience in Languages, Translation, Linguistics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related areas is considered a plus.
• Experience with EdTech products or educational content targeting Brazilian school audiences is an advantage.
• Experience collaborating with Engineering/Product teams in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) is beneficial.
• Participation in localization communities/events or relevant certifications is an added advantage.
