Loan Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Responsible for overseeing a delinquent loan collection program in accordance with established guidelines and procedures, aimed at reducing the delinquency rate of the mortgage loan portfolio.

• Support other loan counselors in negotiating and collecting overdue accounts.

• Ensure compliance with all standard collection procedures per Planet Home Lending's policies to minimize loan delinquencies.

• Assist mortgagors in bringing their loans up to date through inbound/outbound calls and established skip trace techniques.

• Arrange payment plans for total amounts due or set up repayment plans in line with Agency/Investor Guidelines as well as Planet Home Lending policies.

• Document and maintain an online collection history that details efforts to bring the loan current.

• Assess all mortgagors lacking the ability to bring their loans current and refer them to the Mitigation Department.

• Fulfill performance standards for each daily loan assignment, uphold quality call standards, and achieve daily call goals.

• Keep current knowledge and comply with investor rules and requirements.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

• Minimum of one year of collection experience or equivalent background.

• Mortgage collection experience is a plus.

• Possess courteous, tactful, and assertive interpersonal skills.

• Exhibit effective listening abilities.

• Proficient data entry skills.

• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while focusing on results.

• Capable of researching and resolving issues effectively.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills complemented by strong interpersonal skills.

• Ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced team environment.

• Prior experience in a call center setting.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows applications.

• Willingness to work assigned or flexible hours as necessary to complete weekly tasks.
