This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Provide ongoing, on-the-job coaching that aligns with the Ohio Model for Instructional Coaching for Literacy.
• Demonstrate evidence-based literacy instructional methods, including both explicit and systematic teaching strategies.
• Assist educators in applying the Science of Reading, which encompasses phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
• Conduct coaching cycles that involve goal setting, observation, feedback, and reflection.
• Aid in the incorporation of literacy techniques across various subjects, including mathematics when appropriate.
• Collaborate with school leadership to create and execute an annual instructional coaching plan.
• Ensure that coaching services are well-defined and receive approval before program rollout.
• Align coaching efforts with district and school improvement initiatives as well as student achievement objectives.
• Analyze student data to pinpoint instructional needs and direct coaching focuses.
• Support educators in utilizing assessment data to guide instruction and interventions.
• Track and report on the effects of coaching on teaching practices and student results.
• Facilitate professional development sessions that adhere to literacy best practices and the Science of Reading.
• Assist teachers in incorporating new knowledge into classroom instruction.
• Stay updated on state requirements and current literacy research.
• Completion of the mandatory Science of Reading professional learning modules AND one of the following:
• Reading Endorsement (PreK–12)
• Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Reading/Literacy
• Passing Score on the Foundations of Reading Test
• Completed LETRS Training 1 and 2
• Completed Associate-Level Orton-Gillingham Training
• Prior experience as an instructional coach or literacy specialist.
• Strong foundation in data-driven instruction and intervention design.
• Experience in supporting adult learners and leading professional development.
• Familiarity with structured literacy and evidence-based math literacy approaches.
