This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Zambia.
• Collaborate with existing Chichewa audio recordings for a multilingual speech-to-text initiative centered on African languages.
• Identify and label personal information (PII) within audio material.
• Annotate background sounds and non-speech occurrences in accordance with specified guidelines.
• Review and amend automatically generated Chichewa transcripts in relation to the audio content.
• Maintain a high level of fidelity to the spoken material, including background noises and cross talk.
• Evaluate final transcripts for precision, completeness, and compliance with established guidelines.
• Rectify errors and offer structured feedback on linguistic matters.
• Contribute to advancements in AI and language technologies.
• Complete the onboarding process and payment setup following selection and any necessary evaluations.
• Proficiency in Chichewa at a native level.
• Excellent listening abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Previous experience in spoken language transcription or linguistic annotation is highly advantageous.
• A background in linguistics, language studies, or translation is a plus.
• Access to good-quality headphones and a quiet workspace.
• Availability for approximately 20–30 hours per week throughout the 2–3 month project duration.
• Dependable availability and commitment to timely delivery.
• Most assignments necessitate a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week.
• An updated CV in English is required.
• Must successfully pass an evaluation if necessary.
• Must be capable of working as a 1099 independent contractor and manage personal tax responsibilities.
