Life Underwriting Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accountable for the effective risk selection of reviewed cases.

• This role necessitates regular collaboration with Underwriting, New Business, and distribution teams.

• Holds approval authority for amounts ranging from $2,500,000 to $5,000,000 across all tables and ages.

• Capable of evaluating cases up to $7,500,000.

• Demonstrates proficiency in all responsibilities and expectations of Underwriter, Intermediate Underwriter, and Senior Underwriter roles.

• Exhibits leadership qualities within the team and underwriting department.

• Displays effective tactical planning and execution of underwriting goals, both as an individual contributor and as part of a team.

• Capable of making complex decisions regarding cases and comfortable defending those decisions.

• Exhibits a commitment to continuous learning within the Underwriting field.

• Provides mentorship and consultative support to junior staff.

• Continuously seeks opportunities to enhance processes.

• Possesses strong Lean knowledge, demonstrating the business outcomes of initiatives.

• Asks insightful questions for clarification, focused decision-making, and customer success.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• At least 6 years of experience in life or health underwriting.

• Proven proficiency in AWD or similar systems, MS Office, risk assessment, strong platform skills, and robust financial analytical skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills when interacting with various levels of both internal and external stakeholders.

• Capable of meeting high productivity expectations for oneself and team members.

• Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work independently and potentially in a remote setting within a virtual environment and team.
