Licensing Engineer, Energy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Accountable for utilizing engineering and nuclear regulatory expertise to aid in the development of power plant systems and programs in compliance with US licensing regulations.

• Proven knowledge of 10 CFR, along with relevant regulatory and industry guidance.

• Member of the ARUSN Licensing group, responsible for preparing licensing documentation including topical and technical reports, Safety Analysis Reports, and applications for certifications, permits, and licenses.

• Collaborates closely with all engineering disciplines.

• Assists in creating engineering and licensing requirements and documentation for nuclear systems and components in coordination with other engineering functional areas.

• Prepares, reviews, maintains, and defends licensing documentation for a variety of nuclear designs.

• Develops and defends position papers for situations where the current regulatory framework is not applicable, or where new or revised regulatory requirements or guidance are necessary.

• Delivers licensing presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Aids project management in activities related to the development of licensing submissions.

• Applies knowledge, experience, industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and sound engineering judgment to ensure compliance with International regulatory criteria and industry standards.

• Adheres to assigned schedules, ensuring work accuracy, completeness, and timeliness, while initiating corrective actions to address any delays.

• Receives instructions, guidance, and direction from senior licensing engineers and fulfills assigned duties.

• Carries out other responsibilities as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical or engineering field is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience, ideally in nuclear licensing and regulatory affairs.

• Preferred experience in the nuclear industry.

• Strong communication skills are essential.

• Familiarity with industry standards and licensing guidelines is important.

• Exceptional technical writing, interpersonal, and effective communication abilities are necessary.

• Experience in drafting and reviewing licensing applications and submissions is required.

• Proven experience collaborating with designers and engineers to create a Safety Analysis Report (SAR).

• Previous experience in the nuclear industry, including interactions with the NRC or other regulatory bodies, is preferred.

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory for consideration.
