License Advisory Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Become an authority on AGPLv3 and various open-source licenses.

• Gain insight into the commercial licensing models for Apryse/iText software, both current and historical.

• Collaborate effectively with the Sales team during client interactions, offering expert knowledge as required.

• Identify and examine potential instances of open-source license non-compliance within customer systems.

• Facilitate discussions with engineering and legal departments to clarify compliance deficiencies and related risks.

• Convert technical observations into understandable licensing consequences under AGPL and comparable licenses.

• Develop strategies for resolution, including alignment with commercial licensing when relevant.

• Collaborate with Sales to advance compliance-driven business opportunities.

• Keep organized records of all engagements in Salesforce.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in software, SaaS, or developer-centric settings.

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Solution Engineering / Pre-Sales, Technical Sales, Software Compliance or Licensing, IP / Legal-related positions (paralegal experience is a plus).

• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including build, deployment, and integration patterns, and how they influence software licensing and compliance.

• Confidently engage with technical stakeholders (engineers, architects).

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal and technical concepts clearly.

• Comfortable navigating difficult conversations.

• Analytical mindset with the capacity to link technical actions to licensing consequences.

• Ability to work independently and manage uncertainty effectively.
