This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Design, script, and implement quests, missions, and gameplay events from inception to final polish, encompassing objectives, triggers, fail states, rewards, and branching conditions.
• Utilize Unreal Engine 5 for direct in-engine building and iteration, demonstrating strong hands-on expertise in Blueprints for gameplay scripting, mission logic, and event flow.
• Assist in the development of scripted sequences, cinematic moments, AI encounters, and interactive mission elements using Blueprints and, when necessary, Sequencer.
• Create and uphold mission flow documentation, scripting briefs, and implementation notes that clearly articulate objective structure, event conditions, dependencies, and anticipated outcomes.
• Collaborate with narrative, systems, engineering, art, QA, and production teams to ensure missions are functional, comprehensible, and aligned with overarching gameplay objectives.
• Aid in the creation and maintenance of recurring mission content, rotating objectives, and other player-facing live content structures as applicable.
• Conduct playtesting and iterate on pacing, clarity, challenge, and usability based on team feedback, player behavior, and quality benchmarks.
• Assist in identifying, triaging, and resolving scripting issues, broken triggers, edge cases, quest blockers, and live player-impacting bugs.
• Maintain clean, understandable, and sustainable Blueprint logic that facilitates long-term updates and collaboration across the team.
• Engage in light scripting in C++ as necessary, particularly in support of implementation hooks and collaboration with engineering teams.
• 3+ years of professional experience in level design, quest design, or mission scripting.
• Proficient in Unreal Engine 5, with practical implementation experience in building gameplay content directly in-engine.
• Strong working knowledge of Blueprints for scripting logic, triggers, mission flow, and interactive events.
• Ability to assist or work with light scripting in C++ in conjunction with engineering when implementation necessitates it.
• At least one shipped title where you designed and implemented missions, quests, or scripted gameplay content.
• Solid understanding of player flow, narrative pacing, gameplay readability, and objective-driven content design.
• Experience in designing conditional or branching content, including optional objectives, fail states, and recovery paths.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the capacity to create implementation-ready design materials.
• Collaborative working style and comfort in providing and receiving feedback across disciplines.
