This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Provide support for the Credit Union’s Compliance Management System by engaging in independent, risk-based monitoring and testing.
• Contribute to the development, administration, implementation, and upkeep of the Lending Compliance Program.
• Conduct thorough HMDA reviews of reportable originated and non-originated mortgage, retail, and commercial loan applications.
• Manage the import and export of periodic data files, ensuring data populations are complete through reconciliation.
• Validate reportable data against source documentation, host and loan-origination systems, as well as the Loan/Application Register.
• Identify, document, and rectify loan-data exceptions with business units, while suggesting maintenance and reporting adjustments.
• Confirm property addresses, census and geographic information, addressing quality and validity checks.
• Adhere to regulatory deadlines as set forth by Regulation C.
• Prepare documentation and responses for audits and examinations.
• Create procedural manuals, job aids, testing scripts, workpapers, dashboards, and management reports.
• Compile metrics related to HMDA and Fair Lending.
• Import review packages into the imaging system for record retention purposes.
• Carry out compliance monitoring and testing as per approved scopes, procedures, methodologies, and schedules.
• Evaluate adherence to federal and state lending requirements, policies, procedures, controls, disclosures, and record-retention mandates.
• Document objectives, scope, samples, procedures, evidence, results, conclusions, and approvals of monitoring and testing activities.
• Assess the design and effectiveness of controls, conducting root-cause and impact analysis.
• Communicate findings and monitor corrective actions until remediation and closure.
• Perform compliance, product, and service risk assessments.
• Investigate lending compliance inquiries and escalate complex, high-risk, or legally challenging issues.
• Review and propose updates to policies, procedures, forms, disclosures, communications, job aids, and intranet content.
• Assist in compliance evaluations of products, services, systems, vendors, decision-making models, workflows, marketing, and member communications.
• Engage in regulatory-change impact assessments and monitor implementation.
• Offer practical guidance and training while ensuring first-line management retains ownership.
• Facilitate internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations.
• Raise any material, systemic, repeated, overdue, or potentially harmful issues to consumers.
• Stay informed about relevant lending laws, regulations, guidance, enforcement trends, and industry best practices.
• Integrate fair-lending and UDAAP considerations into monitoring, testing, product evaluations, complaints, and corrective measures.
• Participate in monthly one-on-one discussions with the direct manager and undertake other assigned responsibilities.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, risk management, or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of two years of experience in financial-institution lending, loan servicing, quality control, audit, risk, or regulatory compliance is mandatory.
• At least two years of experience in HMDA data integrity reviews, compliance monitoring or testing, loan-file reviews, or regulatory reporting is preferred.
• A minimum of two years of knowledge and practical experience with financial-industry regulations, rules, and best practices is preferred.
• Understanding of consumer and mortgage lending processes as well as regulatory requirements.
• Ability to define issues, evaluate evidence, analyze data, identify patterns, assess risk, and draw conclusions.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational, documentation, and time-management abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Capacity to work independently, exercise judgment, and escalate matters as needed.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with lending, operations, technology, legal, risk, audit, and other stakeholders while maintaining second-line objectivity.
• Proficient in learning and utilizing loan origination, servicing, HMDA, imaging, reporting, governance-risk-compliance, and related systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis is expected.
• Willingness to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, with occasional travel and overnight stays.
