Legal Subject Matter Expert – China

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.

📋 Description

• Offer specialized advice on Chinese intellectual property and patent legislation.

• Analyze CNIPA examination guidelines, filing processes, office actions, patent prosecution, and administrative criteria.

• Assess novelty, inventive step, patentability, prior art, claim scope, and reasoning related to infringement.

• Compose, review, and enhance patent claims and associated patent documentation.

• Annotate and verify datasets related to patent applications, legal opinions, prosecution documents, and IP-related information.

• Support AI teams with requests that require advanced patent analysis and legal reasoning.

• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for inaccurate patent interpretations, improper citations, or flawed legal logic.

• Keep abreast of changes in Chinese intellectual property law and CNIPA procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Licensed Attorney, Patent Attorney/Agent, JD/LL.M. graduate, Senior Legal Researcher, or seasoned IP Paralegal.

• At least 3+ years of pertinent experience in intellectual property or patent law.

• Deep understanding of Chinese patent law and CNIPA examination protocols.

• Experience in patent prosecution and claims drafting.

• Proficient in Mandarin Chinese at an advanced level.

• Strong skills in legal research, statutory interpretation, citation verification, and analytical writing.

• Knowledge of patent databases and intellectual property research tools.

• Familiarity with Generative AI or prompt engineering is an advantage.

• Proficiency in English is a plus.
