
Legal Researcher, Fact-Checker

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +7 more states.
• Conduct research and evaluate legal and policy stories for potential episodes
• Verify podcast scripts against primary sources, including court documents, statutes, regulations, case law, and agency publications
• Review scripts prior to recording and highlight sections that require additional support, clearer sourcing, or better explanations
• Analyze transcripts after episodes are recorded to pinpoint any remaining inaccuracies
• Offer legally informed insights on headlines, episode descriptions, and Simplecast copy in collaboration with the Audience & Marketing team for SEO purposes
• Keep a detailed log of sourcing and fact-checking notes for each episode to ensure editorial accountability
• Collaborate closely with Imani Gandy, the Executive Producer, Legal Content, the Rewire editorial team, the Rewire audience and marketing team, and an external production company
• Assist with podcasts including B*tch, Listen and the forthcoming spin-off Baby Boom! Lawyered
• At least 3–5 years of relevant experience
• Legal background (J.D., paralegal experience, or equivalent) or proven strong legal research capabilities
• Familiarity with legal research databases such as Westlaw or a similar platform is required, or a willingness to gain access
• Capacity to work autonomously under tight production schedules
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet overlapping deadlines, and effectively organize time and priorities
• Strong sense of integrity, initiative, and resilience
• Ability to work independently
• Team-oriented approach that encourages positive relationships
• Proficient in Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Simplecast or other podcast distribution software, and Slack

• Must reside within the continental U.S.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without needing employer sponsorship
• Must agree not to utilize artificial intelligence tools for writing or editing application materials or selection exercises
