Legal Lead - Real Estate Litigation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Direct Mellro's litigation operations, ensuring strategic oversight of real estate court proceedings, adherence to procedural timelines, risk mitigation, and operational effectiveness within the Legal Ops department.

• Transition the currently outsourced operations to internal management, designing processes, KPIs, and legal governance frameworks.

• Supervise the complete portfolio of judicial cases for the company.

• Manage eviction actions and enforcement/execution processes.

• Prepare initial petitions, responses/defenses, appeals, and court documents.

• Develop litigation strategies.

• Attend hearings as necessary.

• Negotiate settlements and agreements facilitated by the court.

• Spearhead the internalization of litigation functions.

• Create workflows, internal procedures, and standards for legal practice.

• Ensure adherence to internal SLAs.

• Establish case-control routines and oversee the legal management system.

• Monitor procedural deadlines, assess risks, and guarantee compliance with processes.

• Generate executive reports and track performance indicators.

• Oversee eviction cases, rent enforcement/executions, claims for charges and damages, judgment enforcement, appeals, and court settlements.

• Collaborate with partner law firms as needed.

• Enhance the Legal Ops function.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or an equivalent degree.

• Active registration with the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association).

• Proven experience in civil litigation.

• Background in real estate law.

• Familiarity with enforcement/execution procedures.

• Experience in handling eviction proceedings.

• Track record of managing a litigation/case portfolio.

• Experience in in-house legal teams or law firms that specialize in real estate.

• Plus: experience in Legal Ops.

• Plus: understanding of KPI-driven management.

• Plus: knowledge of process automation.

• Plus: experience in team leadership.
