Legal Intern, Disability Rights Program – Veterans' Rights

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Focus on the veterans’ docket within the Disability Rights Program.

• Provide assistance with advocacy and litigation concerning the intersection of disability rights, civil liberties, and the rights of servicemembers and veterans.

• Perform legal research and writing tasks, including memos and sections of court submissions.

• Carry out factual investigations.

• Aid in the preparation for and involvement in depositions, oral arguments, hearings, and trials.

• Engage in litigation, advocacy, internal meetings, and discussions.

• Assist in the Disability Rights Program’s litigation and integrated advocacy efforts across key areas.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a currently enrolled legal student.

• Enrollment at a U.S. law school is required.

• Completion of at least one year of law school before the internship starts.

• Must be based in the U.S. for the full duration of the internship.

• Legally authorized to work in order to receive the stipend.

• Strong research capabilities, including proficiency in internet and legal database research.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Demonstrated initiative to complete projects effectively.

• Dedication to advancing the ACLU’s mission.
