Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with various departments to identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks while maximizing commercial prospects related to the launch of new products and services.

• Offer proactive, solution-focused legal counsel and support to multiple stakeholders within the Group to facilitate the development and introduction of crypto products and services in compliance with regulatory requirements while meeting user demands.

• Represent the Group on diverse matters before regulators, financial partners, users, and other external entities.

• Manage litigation and dispute resolution processes, including overseeing legal proceedings, drafting legal documents, and advising on settlement strategies.

• Examine, revise, and draft user agreements and other external-facing terms and conditions, utilizing external advisors and providers as necessary.

• Collaborate with Risk and Compliance teams across our global organization to evaluate relevant regulations and establish corresponding company standards.

• Review and provide input on the development of external-facing marketing materials, user content, and user experiences.

• Choose and manage external legal counsel when necessary for litigation and other legal issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Approximately 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience working in-house and/or at a reputable law firm, with a specialization in litigation and dispute resolution.

• Proven experience managing litigation cases, including regulatory disputes, commercial disputes, or consumer protection issues in an international or cross-border context.

• Ability to deliver timely, concise, and business-focused legal advice regarding payments, consumer protection laws, and litigation risks.

• Capability to excel in a dynamic international environment and adapt to change and uncertainty.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguous legal situations and interpreting/applying the law in uncertain contexts.

• Self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, capable of proactively offering sound legal advice, exercising good business judgment, and collaborating effectively with senior management and cross-functional teams.

• Innovative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities who can maintain composure under pressure.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Ability to juggle multiple assignments concurrently, effectively resolve conflicting priorities, and implement creative solutions to enhance legal support.

• Prior experience in product-related legal matters within technology or financial services, and/or experience in launching joint product initiatives with strategic partners is essential.

• Proficient in both English and Mandarin Chinese.

• Skilled in MS Office applications, including Chinese-language word processing.
