Legal Consultant – Student Agreements, Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Analyze the current Student Enrollment Agreement and associated legal documents for student onboarding.

• Identify potential legal risks, ambiguities, inconsistencies, and clauses that need clarification or amendment.

• Assess documents to ensure compliance with relevant Indian contract law, consumer protection statutes, and data privacy regulations.

• Examine provisions related to enrollment, course fees, payment processes, cancellation policies, refunds, student obligations, and dispute resolution mechanisms.

• Evaluate disclaimers regarding employment opportunities, internships, placements, certifications, and career outcomes.

• Suggest modifications to ensure documents are legally sound, clear, and enforceable.

• Deliver written legal feedback and proposed amendments.

• Collaborate with BFG management to review recommendations and integrate agreed-upon changes.

• Draft and present the final revised documents for management's approval.

• Provide a thorough document review, including marked-up revisions, written compliance recommendations, revised documents, and final legally vetted documents ready for implementation and approval.

⛳️ Requirements

• LL.B. degree from a recognized institution.

• Registration with a State Bar Council in India, preferably the Bar Council of Kerala.

• Prior experience in legal document assessment, contract drafting, and agreement finalization.

• Strong grasp of Indian contract law and applicable consumer protection regulations.

• Experience in reviewing student agreements, contracts with educational institutions, or agreements for professional training services is a plus.

• Exceptional legal drafting, analytical, and communication abilities.

• Capability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.

• Must reside in Kerala.

• Availability for discussions, meetings, and coordination between 1:30 PM and 10:30 PM IST as necessary.

• Ability to provide an updated CV, relevant legal experience, current location in Kerala, availability, and expected professional fee.
