Legal Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Retrieve documents and redact all personally identifiable information in preparation for court filing.

• Assess all incoming levies and garnishments, freezing account funds promptly upon receipt.

• Oversee the estate/probate claims process, including filing claims and satisfactions, reviewing accounts with filed claims, and liaising with estate counsel or personal representatives to resolve claims.

• Review all subpoenas directed to Connexus, prepare necessary documents, and submit them to the requesting authorities.

• Process and categorize new bankruptcy filings in relevant programs, safeguard credit union interests, and ensure timely continuation of processes after the stay is lifted.

• Determine bankruptcy status, use internal departmental applications, and advance loans to the subsequent stage of processing.

• Prepare and dispatch documents and correspondence to legal representatives.

• Confirm critical dates, review electronic court dockets for case status updates, and make necessary notes and follow-ups.

• Address phone calls, internal requests, and written correspondence from parties involved in legal proceedings.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's degree or equivalent experience is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in the legal field or financial institution is required.

• Exceptional verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills are required.

• A keen attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are required.

• Proficient computer skills, with intermediate Excel capabilities, and the ability to navigate various system applications and software programs are required.
