This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Act as a floater within the litigation legal assistant team during periods of absence, holidays, and busy times.
β’ Manage urgent overflow tasks, prioritize high-importance assignments, and address requests that need immediate attention.
β’ Collaborate with legal assistants and attorneys to distribute workloads effectively.
β’ Prepare, draft, review, and format legal pleadings and documents related to litigation.
β’ Oversee deadlines, log due dates in calendars, and ensure calendars are current.
β’ Examine documents and correspondence for adherence to client specifications, legal standards, and grammatical accuracy.
β’ Open, file, monitor, and manage various files and documents.
β’ Handle communications, including phone calls, emails, and other forms of correspondence.
β’ Organize and facilitate meetings among attorneys, clients, and other parties involved.
β’ Prepare materials for meetings and hearings.
β’ Carry out additional relevant tasks as business needs dictate.
β’ Diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in secretarial studies or a college diploma (DEC) in administration or legal studies, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
β’ A minimum of 5 to 7 years of pertinent experience as a litigation legal assistant.
β’ Familiarity with legal terminology and procedural guidelines.
β’ Proficiency in both written and spoken French and English is mandatory.
β’ Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, at an intermediate or higher level.
β’ Capability to manage a substantial volume of files concurrently.
β’ Strong attention to detail, thoroughness, and excellent organizational abilities.
β’ Proficient in working within a computerized environment and adapting to new software tools.
β’ Ability to work remotely in an organized, self-motivated, and efficient manner.
β’ Client-centered, collaborative, team-oriented, tactful, and discreet.
β’ Professional demeanor and outstanding interpersonal skills.
β’ Quick learner with a proactive approach and the ability to take initiative.
β’ Knowledge of insurance law is beneficial.
β’ Understanding of principles and procedures related to common law is advantageous.
