This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Puerto Rico.
• Lead the planning and implementation of high-voltage substation initiatives.
• Supervise the design and drafting of substation physical design documents.
• Create a Bill of Materials according to design specifications.
• Collaborate with protection & controls, civil/structural, and drafting teams to ensure high-quality outputs.
• Assist in client meetings, technical discussions, and project strategy sessions.
• Engage in site inspections and constructability assessments.
• Adhere to client standards pertinent to the tasks at hand.
• Ensure adherence to industry regulations (e.g., IEEE, NESC, NEC) and utility guidelines.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and designers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferably with a focus on power systems).
• Over 8 years of experience in substation physical design for electric utilities.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or comparable design software.
• Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain it within 6 months.
• Knowledge of substation design standards and practices (IEEE, NESC, utility specifications).
• Experience managing substation projects modeled in 3D using Autodesk Inventor.
• Understanding of substation grounding studies and CDEGS.
• Familiarity with Agi32 illumination software.
