Lead Specialist, Learning and Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Create and implement enterprise learning and capability-building solutions centered on Pearson’s Power Skills, such as Adaptability, Learning to Learn, and AI fluency.

• Utilize evidence-based learning science, pedagogy, instructional design, and behavior-change principles.

• Develop AI-enabled learning experiences that transition learners from awareness to practical skill proficiency within their work environment.

• Responsibly incorporate generative and agentic AI into the design, content development, delivery, and evaluation of learning programs.

• Establish and refine approaches for skill-rating, skill-evaluation, and skill-verification.

• Collaborate with Product, Technology, OCTO, HR, business leaders, Product Managers, and Engineering teams.

• Co-design and rigorously test Pearson products such as Credly Workforce, Skills Intelligence Engine, CARA, and Learning Hub as Customer 0.

• Actualize Pearson’s Career Architecture and Career Navigation System for employees and managers.

• Integrate learning into workflows through CARA and other career-coach agents utilizing the D.E.E.P. Learning Framework.

• Create targeted development programs for specific roles or job categories to enhance career progression and productivity.

• Assess capability growth, behavior change, adoption, and business outcomes through data and Pearson’s skills evaluation and verification methodology.

• Produce case studies and proof points showcasing internal adoption, business impact, and product credibility.

• Provide guidance to peers, HRBPs, business partners, and stakeholders on learning design, quality standards, and contemporary learning technologies.

• Navigate complex delivery challenges and translate emerging priorities into actionable, measurable, and adopted outcomes.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and scaling learning and capability-building solutions within complex, matrixed organizations, with a clear impact on behavior and business outcomes.

• Strong foundation in learning science, pedagogy, and behavior change.

• Ability to convert learning research into practical applications.

• Experience in integrating AI and modern digital learning tools into the design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation processes.

• Proven ability to guide learners from awareness to practical capability in their roles.

• Experience in career development, career pathing, credentialing, and internal mobility.

• Understanding of how skills data informs talent decisions.

• Experience collaborating across HR, business, Product, and Technology teams.

• Comfortable working in ambiguous situations to achieve measurable, adopted outcomes.

• Engaged with external research, market practices, and Pearson’s product offerings.

• Expertise in learning and development / pedagogy.

• Proficiency in instructional and experience design.

• Knowledge of digital learning technologies, including modern learning platforms, agentic AI, and adaptive systems.

• Familiarity with program evaluation and skill verification.

• Strong analytical skills for demonstrating behavior change and business impact.
