Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Designers, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to develop and sustain user experience, accessibility, and technical viability across websites, applications, and supporting digital environments.

• Create and implement solutions for displaying data and content across websites, mobile applications, and various platforms.

• Ensure the consistent application of JoVE brand standards across digital properties and third-party platforms.

• Keep abreast of the latest web design and development standards and trends.

• Contribute to engineering excellence, which includes automated unit testing.

• Work alongside stakeholders and developers on project design, implementation, standards, and reusable code.

• Execute tasks autonomously while meeting requirements and deadlines.

• Illustrate and clarify complex technical issues for audiences with diverse technical backgrounds.

• Troubleshoot software components and identify defects for resolution.

• Aid in automating deployments to development and other environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in developing scalable, data-driven backend systems and APIs.

• A minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership position, guiding and mentoring engineering teams.

• Strong expertise in server-side programming with Node.js.

• Familiarity with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and CSS.

• Deep understanding of system design, data architecture, and microservices or modular monoliths.

• Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services and external SDKs.

• Knowledge of event-driven systems, asynchronous processing, and message queues like Kafka, SNS/SQS, or RabbitMQ.

• Proficient with SQL and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis, with a focus on query optimization and complex data modeling.

• Experience with cloud-native AWS architecture, including serverless, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, S3, and CloudFormation, or equivalent platforms.

• Understanding and application of SOLID and DRY software design principles in SaaS and multi-tenant application development.

• Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodologies and related collaboration and issue-tracking tools like JIRA or Rally.

• Experience working within a CI/CD model, including GitHub and CI pipeline automation tools.

• Capability to triage and resolve incidents while leading incident investigations.
