This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Create design specifications to fulfill product requirements as outlined by product management and the product owner.
• Mentor and guide Professional Band developers.
• Collaborate with management and NPI teams on product development strategies, technology exploration, budgeting, resource allocation, and tool selection.
• Address critical customer and business challenges.
• Lead investigations for Root Cause Analysis.
• Develop PC-based applications for configuring Gateways and RTUs within an agile development framework.
• Own and evolve software modules to meet requirements in each agile iteration.
• Work with software validation teams to implement test automation frameworks.
• Ensure traceability of requirements to product specifications.
• Identify and document defects from peer reviews and unit testing.
• Prioritize and address reported defects in collaboration with software validation teams.
• Document and communicate development progress using agile tools.
• Provide support for tier 3/4 field and customer issues.
• Lead the design of software packages for the configuration and maintenance of Industrial Electronic Devices.
• Log, act upon, and report internal and external customer requirements in JIRA / Version 1.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives at GE Software Factory.
• Assign and supervise development teams during NPI projects.
• Mentor members of the testing team and offer backup support.
• Collaborate with software leads, business functions, and management across NPI and LCS activities.
• Assess new technologies and strategies for business enhancement.
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
• Over 5 years of practical experience in designing, developing, and validating PC software utilizing C#, Java, C++, and JavaScript.
• More than 2 years of experience with test-driven development.
• At least 2 years of experience leading software developers and assisting product managers and/or scrum masters with execution strategies.
• Proficient in UML for software design.
• Familiarity with version/configuration control and accurate tracking of software updates and releases.
• Extensive knowledge of XML schemas.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile/XP.
• Ability to synthesize end-user requirements within multicultural, global teams across different time zones.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership qualities.
• Experience in developing Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software.
• Knowledge of utility/SCADA communication protocols, networking, and the interaction between Intelligent Electronic Devices.
• Familiarity with Delphi.
• Previous experience in engineering, testing, and instrumentation.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Proven history of delivering results.
